Piece from the Mâlain mine in Burgundy, France, highlighting a salmon-colored gypsum nodule.
This mine, now forbidden to access, contains rare nodule formations trapped in a clayey marl.
These nodules can be patiently freed from their gangue, polished and varnished.
This 572 gram specimen measures 10.2 cm wide by 15 cm high and 4.5 cm thick.
