This specimen highlights a polished gypsum nodule, resting on a piece of marne.
Of salmon colour, it comes from the Mâlain mine in Burgundy, France.
This mine, now inaccessible, contains rare formations of nodule gypsum and white radial gypsum caught in clay marnes.
This 370 gram specimen is 9.7 cm wide for 7.4 cm high and 7.4 cm thick (marne).
